Shelby County resident Paul Lambert announced this week his plans to run for 6th Congressional District, US House of Representatives. The 6th Congressional district includes Chilton, Bibb and Shelby counties, as well as portions of St. Clair, Jefferson, Tuscaloosa, and Coosa counties. Lambert is the owner of a technology consulting firm in Shelby County. He is married and the father of nine children. He has been involved with community and civic organizations including leadership positions in the Boy Scouts of America, hosting a childrens television program, teaching Sunday school and creating children's ministry programs. When asked why he was running for Congress, Lambert replied, "It is time for the government to return to its sole purpose for being. The founding fathers defined governments role as being a tool to be used by the people for the protection of their liberties. This return can only happen when the people once again hold their government accountable for its encroachments of the peoples unalienable rights. We can continue to complain about what our government is doing or we can stand up and do something about it. I choose to stand up and fight the good fight. I invite all the citizens of the sixth district, republicans, democrats, libertarians and independents, to join with me in this cause. We are Americans all. We succeed or we fail together."
