Shelbourne FC is an Irish football club playing in the Football League of
Ireland. The club, founded in 1895, play their home matches at Tolka Parkin
the north Dublin area of Drumcondra. The club colours are red and white, and
the club goes by the nickname of "Shels".
They are one of the more successful clubs in the league and have won several
championships, FAI, and league cups. Also they have made it to European play
several times including their Champoins League run in 2004.
UEFA Champions League
In 2004 Shelbourne made history by becoming the first Irish team to reach
the third round of a European competition when they reached the first
quallifing round of the Champions League. The faced the Spanish club
Deportivo de La Coruña and drew with them 0-0 on the first leg at Lansdowne
Road, only to lose 3-0 at Deportivo putting them out of the Champions League.
