FC Haka
is a Finnish football club, playing in the town of Valkeakoski.
The club began competing in the local league as Valkeakosken Haka in 1934.
At the end of the 1940s, it was promoted to the Veikkausliiga and 1955 won
its first Finnish Cup.
The 1960s was the most successful era in the club's history, winning both
Finnish Cup and League. In the late 1960s and early 1970s the club dropped
into the first division, but came back and won again in 1977. In 1996 they
were relegated again, hired a new coach Keith Armstrong, and won three
championship titles in row, ending in 2000. Despite domestic success, Haka
still have not proven themselves in the Champions League. Olli Huttunen
became the new coach in 2002. |
